Dewey Cheetum & Howe Vacate Building Following Scandal

posted Jun 8, 2016, 3:19 PM by MoreCity Bricks
Mere weeks after opening an office in MoreCityBricks, the accounting firm of Dewey, Cheetum, & Howe has closed up shop leaving a vacant building on Original Avenue.

The controversy that led to the firm's departure involves a rumor that the CPAs advised other business owners to leave MoreCityBricks in pursuit of financial gains.

"It seems clear that these fellows put their own financial interests ahead of those of our citizens," said council member Sally Tellsit. "We had long time business owners suddenly pack up their shops and leave after talking to these 'financial advisers.' That's just not something that makes your city stronger."

The firm's client list allegedly included Take the Cake Bakery, Plumb Bob's Hardware, and Barnes & Noble. All three businesses up and disappeared under the cover of darkness in a matter of weeks.

"I understand that businesses need to do everything they can to make a profit," said Mayor Builder. "But it's hard to instill confidence in the community when every other day another business leaves for greener pastures."

We reached out to Dewey, Cheetum & Howe for comment, but no one returned our calls.
